Will MicroStrategy purchase more Bitcoin in 2024

Since 2020, the American company MicroStrategy has made a name for itself on the stock market and in the cryptocurrency world by continually acquiring sometimes massive quantities of Bitcoin, making it one of the largest publicly traded corporate holders of the digital asset. This trend appears to have continued into late 2024, with an announcement dated December 16 of a purchase exceeding 15,000 Bitcoins in less than a week.

Now, the question on the minds of market observers is this: will this appetite for Bitcoin persist before the year officially closes? Some are betting on a final purchase, fueled by CEO Michael Saylor’s unwavering faith in the cryptocurrency’s potential. Others point to end-of-year fiscal constraints and the company’s need to prudently manage its cash flow.

According to several analysts, MicroStrategy may take advantage of a window of volatility in the BTC price to reaffirm its role as an “institutional whale” (a major holder capable of influencing the market). But some also highlight that the company has already made its mark with a portfolio approaching 439,000 Bitcoins—a record quantity that poses significant long-term financial risks.
Regardless, MicroStrategy’s ambition draws attention from both traditional stakeholders and proponents of the digital economy, the latter viewing the company’s accumulation of BTC as a strong signal legitimizing the cryptocurrency.

Based on our analysis, there is around a 67.00% chance that MicroStrategy will announce another Bitcoin purchase by December 31, 2024, at 11:59 PM ET. As always, confirmation would come from an official company communication or from Michael Saylor himself.
